Accomplishments

Since its 1998 inception, the Lexington Area Sports Authority (LASA) has worked diligently to maintain Central Kentucky’s well-deserved reputation as an ideal site for multi-sports events. This accomplishment is credited in large part to the dedication of hundreds of volunteers who help make each event a success.

The Lexington Area Sports Authority plays an increasingly important role in attracting high-impact and highly visible events to Central Kentucky. Dedicated leaders in our region have a large wealth of experience in event hosting and management, so local sports groups know they will get the support they need to stage a successful event.

LASA continues to make tremendous strides to maximize the economic benefits of sports to ultimately better Central Kentucky. This has been accomplished through the aggressive pursuit and proficient hosting of international, national, regional, and state events from a wide spectrum of sports and performance levels.

Central Kentucky is proud to be the home of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event (the only four star equestrian event in the Western Hemisphere), the Bluegrass State Games (which attracts over 20,000 participants from all areas of the Commonwealth) and the extremely popular Fifth Third Bank Tennis Championships. In addition, our region hosts 12 Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championships including the KHSAA Boy’s Sweet 16 Basketball tournament, which draws over 100,000 spectators each year.

Through the aggressive pursuit of hosting select sporting events and providing vital support services, the Lexington Area Sports Authority is successfully fostering the growth of athletics in Central Kentucky.
